The Legg Mason Tennis Classic that boasts the best field of the US Open Series thus far, and finally has the tennis betting stage all to itself (no more European clay-court events sharing the spotlight), enters the Round of 16 today. An impressive line-up of players is set to kick off their bids for a spot in the quarterfinals.
First up to take to centre court today is the battle between two veterans – Tommy Haas and Juan Carlos Ferrero. Haas, 31, is seeded tenth in the tournament and is the favourite in his quarter (the third quarter) to advance. But Ferrero, 29, is a former world No.1 player and he has hit a fine stride lately. Elsewhere, American Wayne Odesnik takes on Chilean firebrand Fernando Gonzalez.
